Who we are & What we do...
The core purpose of Townsville Chamber of Commerce is to be a politically and financially independent organisation providing members with the opportunity to improve business and create employment opportunities. The Chamber aims to assist business in their endeavors by being an active lobbyist and provide a framework to network for profit to ultimately improve the prosperity of the community.
The Chamber welcomes all business people from the smallest to the largest enterprise. Private membership is offered to business people wishing to maintain their membership and interest in the community. This diverse membership base is a great strength and major factor in the Chamber's position as North Queensland's leading business agency.
The Townsville Chamber of Commerce Inc. is the largest regional Chamber in Australia and the largest in the country per head of population. The Chamber which was formed in 1882 has a history to deal with day to day business opportunities or problems. It promotes and consults on regional infrastructure and community affairs.
The Chamber is a potent lobbying force - locally, state and nationally on behalf of it's members and the region. It is ably administered by the annually elected volunteer 10 member Chamber Executive.
The Young Chamber Committee is an initiative to specifically target the city's younger business people and cater to that age group's needs. They are a dynamic group who not only deal with immediate issues but also focus on leadership development and networking amongst their peers.
